Super Sixes Starts Superbly

During Freshers Week, SUMHC held a charity ‘Super Sixes’ tournament to launch the new fast-paced format which will become a feature of Sunday afternoons down at Sketty Lane. In total, nine teams entered with over sixty people participating throughout the day despite horrendous weather conditions, with Blazin' Squad emerging victorious.

When combined with money raised during the Summer League during last years exam period, the club was able to donate £260 to mental health charity MIND, which provides mental health services to people all over the country. Club Captain Callum Pink stated “it was a tremendous opportunity to promote and trial this new, exciting hockey format that aims to increase participation in hockey at the university. I am also delighted with the money raised for the charity MIND, as on a personal level the issue of mental health is very close to my heart.”

The club would like to thank the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) for their assistance in setting up the Super Sixes tournament in Swansea, as well as our sponsor bars Walkabout and Popworld for donating prizes to the winning team. The next round of which will be this Sunday at Sketty Lane Astro Pitches at 12pm, no experience or equipment is required as that can be provided.
