New Year, Same Stat-Man

January for uni students is a soulless month. It is filled with revision as well as exams and the word stats is reserved for a branch of maths that no-one likes. But taking a break from that hard life all four games this week were decided by a two-goal margin.

Playing a game at high levels with only one training session since before Christmas was always going to be tough and it proved that way. They came into the game in good form but started poorly and lost 3-1 to City of Bath conceding their 70th goal of the season. The Swansea goal came from Elliot tucker who keeps himself on the table with 4 for the season.

Zeyn’s team have continued the dominance they were displaying in the first half of the season, although by their standards a 5-3 win could probably be considered as a close-run thing. Braces from Brogan and Thommo (including one turned in by an Aber player) secured victory, with the 5th being added by Jake Harvey.

The threes returned from the festive break and helped skipper Stringer stick to his new year resolution of drawing less games by holding on to a lead and beating Ca***** Uni C 3-1 it looked for a while at 2-1 that old habits would be hard to shake but a goal from Stringer himself secured the points. The earlier goals were scored by ‘the best stopper in the club’ Greg Cole and me, with an off target shot.

With the 4’s nearly scuppered before pushback with a lack of drivers, Pearson’s army boarded the banter bus and travelled to Whitchurch. Missing a few key players, the 4’s went down 4-2 with the goals coming from the prolific Pearson and Toby Mellor with his first of the season.

Rule Clarification After a couple of…. Contentious goals this week I have sought out the own goal rule and found that the attacker is always credited.

Top Goal Scorer Helicon and Brogan continue trading punches at the top of the table, but Pearson and Zeyn are still within striking distance.

The Brick Wall Award It would take a major turnaround from here but can anyone catch Bellando.

The Liability Award And in the interest of keeping my housemates happy I must mention myself. I received my first ever card, correctly given by Helicon for a shocking tackle. Editorial note: Perhaps should’ve been a yellow??

Attack vs Defence No movement this week, score stays 13 to 10

Team Analysis The orange bar is nearing 100 who will get the landmark this time.

Goal Difference Tracker A rare flat week for club goal difference as every game was decided by two goals. But I doubt many clubs can boast a whole club goal difference of 37 Uppaswanz Much Love OVK xxx
