(Massively Late) Christmas Stat-Man!

I've been really really busy, so I'm afraid this Christmas edition of Stat-Man is a little outdated. Nevertheless, OVK really did make a seminal edition so here it is. Enjoy!

Stat-Man Christmas!

That’s right, a little (late) present for you all, a bumper edition of Stat Man. This week it will contain the results from the last Saturday fixtures, the full goal scoring and liability tables as well as a couple of bonus mentions. Some say I have too much time on my hands….I say it’s the season of giving, so merry Christmas and I hope you enjoy.

Results

Only 3 games to discuss this week a mauling dished out by the Ones, a dramatic score-fest ending in a draw for the Threes, and a close-ish defeat for the Fours.

So, starting in the natural place we begin with the first team who beat 9 man Exeter Uni 6-1. The goals came from Zeyn, Bean, Ollie E, Jake, and Woody. I assume one of them must have got two but didn’t want to bother anyone over Christmas to ask and Twitter wasn’t very clear. The win continues what will now be considered excellent form, and leaves them in much better position moving into the new year.

As we all know the threes often fall victim to a comeback, this week however, they pounced themselves scoring 2 in the last 10 minutes to earn a point with a 4-4 draw. The goals this week were shared by captain Alex Hunter, and the world’s quietest centre midfield Cyrus, Tyler, and Dan James who levelled with a minute to go.

The depleted fours lost their last game of the year 3-1 to title contenders Whitchurch. The Swansea goal came from Chris Pearson. (He probably had a decent game to be fair)

Top Goal Scorer

All scorers in the club this year so far. (I think)

The Liability Award

You know what because its Christmas no one gets points this week. But I will be caught up next week so don’t think you are getting away with it.

The Brick Wall Award

Just updated this one but Bellando is taking a rather Man City like lead, as upsetting as it is to use that analogy. It will take a big comeback from here. Can anyone manage it?

Team Top Goal Scorers

Halfway through the season and we are going to look at the top goal scorers in each team.

1st Team

3rd Callum Pink

2nd Ollie Edwards

1st BEAN

A welcome addition to the first team, Ben Hancox has proved a lethal option from short corners despite being a defensive player. This year, 10 of his 12 goals have come from short corners, that’s over 80% of his goals, and a smidge under 20% of the goals the first team have scored this season.

Not bad Bean, not bad at all.

2nd Team

3rd Zeyn

2nd Brogan

1st HELICON

On the fringes of the 2’s last year due to his streaky scoring and his ability to make easy chances look hard, while at the same time making hard chances look easy. This year however he has cemented his place in the team and is now the clubs leading scorer. While he does make himself an easy target with his lack of common sense the boy’s scoring record speaks for itself. The club has roughly 100 members who have played a game (I checked) meaning Helicon has more goals for the club than the combined effort of 70 other members.

3rd Team

3rd Stringer

2nd Dan James & Elvis

1st OVK

With the weight of captaincy lifted I have found a bit of scoring form but I can’t talk about myself. Feels wrong.

4th Team

3rd Hogan

2nd Chilli

1st Pearson

The only current captain on the list and another guy who has occupied that coveted top spot on the goal scorer chart. He is the top scorer in the 4’s by a full 11 goals which is no mean feat given that those goals would put him 6th in the table, talk about leading from the front. But the highlight for this guy must be when the ‘tap in specialist’ scored what could be called the perfect hat-trick. (Strong hit, Tomahawk, and a P-Flick)

Goals for and Against

After 76 games, this season the club has scored 216 goals and conceded 179.

Team analysis

Goal Difference Tracker

And thanks to the first team the line goes back to what it should be doing… climbing.

If anyone has any ideas as to things they would like to see in Stat-Man, other than grammar, please don’t hesitate to suggest it because if I can think of a way to do it I will.

UppaSwanz

Merry Christmas and let’s have a very happy New Year

Much Love OVK xxx
