Stat-Man's Hotting Up!

It was another disrupted week for the club, as that ‘massive snow storm’ hit the ‘whole county’ As such we had only three games being played this week, including the dramatic replay for the 2s against Cardiff Medics.

Results

The order this week has been decided by the amount of goals in the game, so we begin with the 4’s. Pearson’s team this week came away winners in their game against UWE 3s despite their insistence on throwing away the lead, the final score was 6-5 but in reality it could have been 10-10. This was because neither team could hold on to the ball in the middle for more than 5 seconds which lead to many scoring chances. Goal scorers were Pearson x 3, *Groans inwardly* Elvis and Toby Mellor x 2 it what could be his last home BUCS game.

For the 1st team this week it was an away trip to Bristol for a bit of a dead rubber in terms of the league. However, the battle for the stats is still very much on. The final score was a 3-2 defeat with the goals being scored by Denman and Woody who in true Liverpudlian style ended his 4 years at SUMHC with a rendition of ‘Hey Jude’

Tension has been the word of the week for the 2’s. With the snow denying them the chance to secure their Saturday promotion, they had to wait a week before travelling to Talybont to rectify mistakes. After the CC apologised for his actions the twos stepped up and spared his blushes and came away with a 2-1 win against Cardiff Medics. Don’t worry mate doubt it even made the top 5 mistakes of CC’s this year. The results leaves the 2’s needing a point against RAU to gain promotion. The scorers were Helicon and Topknot who showed nerves of steel subbing himself on to tuck away the P-Flick.

Most of you will have heard, but that doesn’t change the fact that massive congratulations are in order for the Ladies 1’s who this week won the BUCS Western Conference Cup against Exeter University 3’s. As cup finals usually are it was a dramatic game with the Swansea girls bouncing back from 2 goals down to win 4-3 on penalty flicks. You can see the celebrations on the link below or relive their win thanks to the live tweets from Sapphy Reed-Yang in the same place. The score at full time was 2-2 after goals from Vj and Lara levelled the game with just over 10 to play. The 5 Swansea players to step up for the drama of flicks were Rosie, HP, Katie, Vj and Maddie who despite being hit in the face tucked away the winning flick to bring gold back to Swansea

.

Top Goal Scorer Bit late to start including the girls on this one but would anyone catch Pearson, any bets on a bottle job followed by Helicon comeback?

The Brick Wall Award Conceding 5 has made it a lot closer… other than Juan. He might have this one covered.

The Liability Award Little change at the top with Jamie not playing and the others learning to behave themselves for a game. Ollie Edwards even got MOM.

Attack vs Defence A small gain for the forwards this week but it’s been a while. Will the late charge happen? Or will the defenders lead from start to finish.
