Stat-Man 2 - Stat-Man Returns

We have come a long way since the humble beginnings of Stat-Man, and I thank the readers for following its meteoric rise from a time wasting measure from a student with too much time, to the lofty heights of the club website. Who knows where we will be next week, probably the local paper.

Results

In true Gary Lineker fashion the order will be changed again to put exciting games first up.

On Saturday, the 2s continued their unbeaten start to the season putting another side on the wrong end of a trouncing and winning 7-1 with goals from James Thompson x2, Brogan, Jake Harvey, George Hunt, and even captain Zeyn got in on the action with two, which left Ed Goldsmith (Fish) as the only captain at that point without a goal.

The 4s returned to playing village Welsh sides on Saturday and as such hit Penarth for 7, including the first Hat-trick of the season and the 4’s first clean sheet. Goals came from Chris Pearson x 3, including a flick, Elvis x 2 including what can only be described as a cricket shot, and 1 each for the midfield pairing of Cyrus and Tyler.

Pearson’s side had their second BUCS away day in two weeks, (lucky) and with former captain Sam Bennett returning to the team, looked set for big game. They saw going 3-0 down to Bristol 5’s as a challenge and brought it back to 3-3 through Chilli and Elvis x 2 including a flick. Step up Ranga Chivasa (he played for Zimbabwe didn’t you know) with a dodgy clearing aerial giving away a short with Bristol converted crushing hopes and dreams and condemning the 4’s to a 4-3 loss.

The 3’s had a day off on Saturday and clearly spent it practising short corners as the new Stoke City of the club converted 3 out of 5 shorts through two danger pushes from returning Dj and a straight hit from Gavin filling the Puv role. This lead to the threes first win of the season beating Royal Ag 3-1.

The 1s had a game to forget about on Saturday. The best summary I can give is a quote by Mr H York ‘Naff game, no comment’. I gather they lost 3-0 to Gloucester

They however returned to form against Plymouth Uni, winning 5-3 and looking in control from the bits I saw. Goals from Yorkie, Amrit, a Fish P-flick, and brace from Bean.

The 2 P-flicks this week shows the danger the club is creating in the D, and Fish completed the week with all captains finding the goal. Next up vices with only chilli entering the top scorer race.

Top Scorer

Brick Wall Award

No Change in order for the keepers this week, but the goals conceded column for the keepers is looking very similar and for those of you who like stats, (Probably just me), Conor in his first 3 games keeping for the 1s has conceded 6, where-as Jewins conceded a couple extra with 8 but caught up this week on GPG. COMPETITION.

The Liability Award

A new segment this week and already my favourite, this one is to do with cards and Tw’s. 1 point for a green, 5 for a yellow, 10 for a red *coughs* Alex Bourne, and 3 for a Tw. So might as well stick Jamie’s name on this one already.

Team Analysis

This graph shows Stringer’s team lagging behind a bit in goals scored as the only team with a negative goal difference, but a solid defence is a good place to begin in the hunt for positivity. The 1s however have gone for the other tactic of outscoring everyone and that’s nice too and makes for a nice graph.

Attack vs Defence

Another new one this week. With the scoring of the first hat-trick, the club has a new measure of bragging rights; Hat-tricks vs clean sheets. Defence is winning.

Goal Difference Tracker

The club’s going up!!!! On a Tuesday? No just in general.

And that’s it for another week, Stat-Man over and out.

Much Love OVK
