Stat-Man 3: Stat-Man Rises

Another week, another round of lectures, labs, and storms with friendly names. But fear not the 3rd edition of Stat-man is here to break up the monotony and focus on the real reason we all come to uni…. Hockey.

Results

Casting our minds back to last Saturday and picking a team at random leads us to the 3rd XI. For the 3s it was a tough week playing away against Llan and Caerphilly with only 10 men, two of whom had to get the train to the puddle of a pitch as storm Brian did its worst. Stringer’s team went down 3-2 in the dying minutes with yours truly (OVK) getting both the goals.

The 1s also had an unfortunate Saturday losing 6-2 to Penarth, despite taking 7 defenders in the match day squad. Bean providing both the goals for the 1’s and offering a bit of a positive note to bounce back with next week.

On Wednesday Fish’s side, even though he was still in bed when the bus was due to leave, kicked of their cup campaign (in as much as a hockey game can be kicked off) with a win against Loughborough on penalty flicks. They went into the shootout at 3-3 with goals from Woody, Biff, and what I hear was quite a good drag from Bean. Flick takers Biff, Fish, Bean and Ollie Edwards all scored to take it to sudden death at 4-4 and after a save from Conor, Biff made no mistake to seal it.

The 2’s continued to prove they are probably too good for both their leagues and scored 11 goals, and if the rumours are to be believed it should have been more if they could finish a 2 on one. On Saturday they won 1-0 the only goal coming from Brogan and on Wednesday winning 10-0 which is almost bullying, not quite the 26 the ladies 3’s managed but still. Scorers were Helicon x 3 (breaking two dry spells this week, good on him) Zeyn x 2, Amrit x 2, Jake Harvey x 2 and Brogan, all this means that after a great week from the twos their players dominate the goal scoring charts and the defensive awards as well.

The 4’s only had the one game this week the top of the table clash with Cardiff medics, they lost 2-0 safe to say they were not amused.

Top Goal Scorer

*Disclaimer* people with only one goal will not be displayed so if you want to see your name in the next edition go score some more.

The Brick Wall Award

With his two clean sheets this week Bellando has dramatically improved his goals per game and has raced away at the top.

The Liability Award

Jamie despite being good for 2 weeks is still at the top of the chart, but a large number of people are starting to close the gap.

Team Analysis

The ones this week have fallen into a negative goal difference but the club is being propped up by the free scoring twos.

Attack vs Defence

Two clean sheets and a hat-trick this week, the kind of performances we like.

Goal Difference Tracker

While it wasn’t the best week results wise it certainly wasn’t the worst, and the line continues to climb

Much Love OVK x
