Double Statman!

I've been a bit behind with Stat-Man, so to make up for it you'll be getting 2 Stat-Mans in 1!

Results - Week 7

Every roller-coaster has its ups and downs and so does every season, this season the ups have been plentiful and while the Saturday continued that trend the Wednesday was tough but the club will bounce back.

The twos continued their excellent run on a Saturday and beat Penarth 6-1 to put themselves 2 points clear at the top of the league. Goals this week came from 6 different scorers. Helicon, Brogan, & Zeyn continued their competition and all moved onto 9 goals each. The rout was completed by Ginger Tom, Jake Harvey, and Al Capone. However Topknot may have deserved a goal scoring 6 seconds after the final whistle.

The twos however faced their first blip of the season drawing 1-1 away from home at Cardiff Medics. While their team had to wait until 7:30 for push back, that is made to look insignificant, as the 7 week wait for a goal from Mr CC Callum Pink is over as he grabbed the only goal.

Alex Stringers 3rd XI played on Saturday and put away local rivals Swansea City B 4-1 after a brief wobble where they came back to 2-1. Scorers where OVK, Gus, Lloyd, and Cyrus.

On Wednesday the 3’s suffered their heaviest defeat this season losing 6-0 to USW but they will bounce back.

The 4th team won their game on Saturday 1-0 with injured forward Elvis scoring the only goal against Llan and Caer 2’s leaving them 3rd in the league.

On the Wednesday the 4’s played 10 man Bath Spa and went down 2-0, with Chilli obtaining TW and as Ranga refused to give up more information in his hungover state that’s all I can tell you.

The 1st team lost both their games this week 4-0 to Ashmoor and 2-1 to Bristol with their only goal being an own goal which has been awarded to Ollie Edwards. This loss puts the league win on a Wednesday out of their own hands.

Results - Week 8

The far-travelling 1’s, the free-scoring 2’s, the hard to beat 3’s, and the inconsistent 4’s all reverted to type in a great week for the club.

The men’s ones this week travelled 335 miles to play two games of hockey giving the proclaimers a good run for their money in terms of pointless journeys. On Saturday they played Isca Hockey Club and lost 3-2 with both the goals coming from Club Captain Pink leaving him 3 from 2.

On Wednesday the first team played away in Nottingham and went down 2-1 to lose another close game the goal this time coming from Ollie Edwards making him the joint highest scoring defender.

Zeyn’s team scoring a massive 18 goals this week took the maximum 6 points and became the first team to blitz through the 50 goal land mark with a goal on Saturday from Dom Alcock. The rest of the goals were scored by Helicon Brogan and Zeyn all of which came from shorts.

You may have heard about the 2’s 14-0 blowing away 9 man aber, you may also have heard that Helicon and Brogan both scored hat-tricks. The more astute of you might know that

helicons last goal put the 2’s goal difference up at 50 but EVERYONE should know that none of the 14 came from Capitan Zeyn. Helicon x 3 Brogan x 3 Pinky x 2 Allan x 2 Hunty x 2 & Thommo x 2.

The threes came away with a 1-1 draw and a few injuries against an industrial Cardiff & Met side, the goal came from OVK to keep the threes in the top 5.

The 4’s lost on Wednesday to a strong Plymouth side ending the dreams of a remake of the 3’s cup run but the silver lining in this cloud is that the one goal came from none other than Mr Samuel Bennett coining the new rarely appropriate phrase. Bennett Goals: more than Zeyn.

Top Goal Scorer - Week 7

As the 2’s players congregate at the top of the goal score’s chart, no one can get close to Pearson.

Top Goal Scorer - Week 8

We did it guys he’s gone, we have new leaders.

Brick Wall Award - Week 7

Another new entry onto the goal keeping chart this week with tight competition at the top of the chart.

The Brick Wall Award - Week 8

Disclaimer* to be included at the end of the season for the prize the amount of games played must at least be a quarter of the person with the most appearances. It is also worth noting that Bellando has taken the lead in the clean sheets column.

The Liability Award - Week 7

We now have a few players close to completing the cycle of badness and no reds as of yet in the club with two being dished out to opposition (my bet’s on Helicon).

The Liability Award - Week 8

Zeyn making the mistake of not picking Jamie on Wednesday has massively closed the gap at the top of the table by scoring 12 points.

Umpiring

A different one this week as it seems about time to say thank you to the people who give up their time to umpire for us. And while you may not always agree, we have it far better here than some places we visit

Team Analysis - Week 7

You may have noticed the absence of a yellow bar in the last section this is because the 4’s are as you were at the start of the season with a goal difference of 0.

Team Analysis - Week 8

Two teams slip into negative goal difference but the top scoring and lowest conceding 2’s make the graph nicer reading.

Attack Vs Defence - Week 7

Two hatricks close the gap again but the defence still is yet to relinquish the lead.

Attack vs Defence - Week 8

No movement this week.

Goal Difference Tracker - Week 7

The first decreasing week in a long time and it makes me sad.

Goal Difference Tracker - Week 8

The line has turned again as we move towards a goal difference of 50.

Onwards and upwards

Much love OVK xx
